Air Care Southeast
CELEBRATING 50 years
Sooner or later the pipes are going to get clogged, the water’s going to leak, or the air conditioner is going to break down. When it happens you do not want excuses, delays, multiple work orders or recorded messages. You want the problem fixed properly at a fair and reasonable rate, and in short order.
It all began in 1970, Chet Highfill chose to give up a long-time carreer in the ladies shoe business working for the Wohl Shoe Company to start a new chapter in his and his families’ lives. With the support of his wife, Polly, he went to air conditioning school in Houston. Chet graduated in late 1970 and went to work as a service technician in Pasadena. In 1972 he made the move to Texas Air Care as a service technician where his knowledge grew. The owner of Texas Air Care suggested that they open an office on the southeast side of Houston so Chet decided to go out on his own and in 1973 Chet started Air-Care Southeast in Pasadena. His family joined the team with his daughter, Vickie, working as secretary, Carl and Michael working in the afternoon after school. Polly joined the family business in 1976. In 1978 Chet moved the office from Pasadena to South Houston, which is where they remain today. In 1980 Carl received the Texas State Air Conditioning License which opened the door for more growth. In 1984, Air-Care southeast was incorporated and in 1989 the plumbing division was added with Phillip Johnson as the Responsible Master Plumber.
Air Care Southeast has been footing this bill for 50 years. Along with residential air conditioning and plumbing, their bread and butter is commercial and industrial refrigeration, facility services and commercial kitchen equipment. Thirty-nine employees with twenty-seven service trucks handle the workload for many customers each month, many right here in the South Houston/Pasadena area. Yet they have substantial clientele throughout the Greater Houston area, and handle projects as far away as Austin, Waco and San Antonio. Word-of-mouth accolades from a multitude of satisfied customers, is really the only kind of advertising they have needed, and repeat business is the norm for Air Care. As a result, demand for their services has always been good, and prospects for the future are excellent. Air Care always stands behind their work, offers discounts to seniors, and if it ain’t broke, they don’t fix it.
This highly respected establishment is also very active in community functions and charities. Mr. Highfill served on the Board of Directors of the South Houston Chamber of Commerce in 2000-2002. Mr. Johnson is currently serving on the Board, and served as President from 2007-2009. Air-Care Southeast was recognized as Business of theYear in 2008. The South Houston Chamber of Commerce wants to congratulate Air Care Southeast for a highly successful 50 years of service, and thank them for the active and positive role they have played in supporting the Chamber as well as the local community.
